Japan, Meiji period Inrô with 2 compartments in ro-iro and takamaki-e lacquer, decorated with birds perched above foaming waves, and ibexes on the edge of a cliff; topped with a silver-applied mon. With carved and lacquered wooden Manju with Inari motif and auspicious symbols, inscribed Temple Toshodai-ji and To-ji. Dim. 5.7 x 6.5 cm (Worn and chipped lacquer)
