China, 19th century, A pair of wide-bodied, baluster-shaped vases in white porcelain, decorated in blue underglaze with an assembly of scholars enjoying calligraphy evoking taiji. Half-relief lions' heads holding rings adorn the top of the belly. Two bats complete the ornamentation. Restored necks and pierced bottoms H. 40 cm and H. 41 cm
