Memoirs of the life of Jacques-Auguste de Thou, State Councillor, and President of Mortier at the Parliament of Paris. Work mixed of prose and verse. First edition translated from Latin and French. Rotterdam, Reiner Leers, 1711. 1 vol. in-4. Full tan calf, gilt arms in the centre of the boards, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, ornate ribbed spine, red morocco title-piece. Frontispiece, title, [13]ff, 276pp. Well completed with the portrait-frontispiece of Jacques de Thou, by Jac. Lÿmende. Traces of an old paper stuck on the arms of the frontispiece. Arms not identified but reproduced by O.H.R. pl. 438. From the Library of Mr. A. Houbigant, with his ex-libris pasted to the upper back cover. Handwritten bookplate on title page: De Canchy. Small paper loss on title page. Lack of cover, gilding of arms slightly faded.
