Léopold Gigout, a young architect born in 1836, won the competition for the construction of the church of Saint-Epvre. He proposed a plan in the shape of a Lorraine cross, which strongly appealed to the patriotic feelings of the people of Nancy. He was also the architect of the Saint-Martin Church, built between 1881 and 1883 in a Neo-Renaissance style. /
