CHINE - Fin XIXe siècle View of the Yiheyuan (Garden of preserved harmony) and the Kunming Hu (Lake of Kunming) Ink on paper Dim. 59,5 x 100 cm (accidents and restorations) Origin: Old Wannieck collection, sale after death on 24 March 1961, n°439. The construction of the Yiheyuan, the new Summer Palace, was completed in 1764 under the reign of the Emperor Qianlong. After the destruction of the nearby Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan), Empress Dowager Cixi had the Yiheyuan enlarged in 1884-1895. This garden was damaged in 1900, following the Boxer riots, and rebuilt in 1902.
