Jean MIEG (Mulhouse 1791-1862) Walkers in the ruins of Pompeii Lavis black and grey. Titled and dated on the back Inside part of Pompeia... Baker's oven/1817. 23 x 28 cm Jean Mieg was the pupil of the painter Charles Meynier. In the years 1814-1818, he went to Italy several times to perfect his training. He then worked almost exclusively in Mulhouse as a landscape gardener, portrait painter and genre painter. He was also a lithographer.
