Japan, late Meiji period, Bako comprising wooden calligraphy items, decorated in hira and taka makie-e gold, with a bird on a flowering branch, including a bronze "mizuire" (small teapot-shaped container for water that is poured drop by drop) with a beautiful red patina, a "suzuri" (ink stone) and a "sumi" (ink stick) with incised calligraphy decoration. (Accident) Label on the ink stone mentioning an earlier period. Size: 25 x 14 x 9.5 cm
