Small pedestal bowl in cut and engraved rock crystal with scrolls and gilt silver.
The cut and engraved rock crystal lid surmounted by a child satyr, the frame engraved with scrolls and stylized water leaves with two horse-headed handles. The pedestal is decorated with scrolls and stylized water leaves.
Greyhound head stamped on the foot and on the lid.
This hallmark was used by the Austrian-Hungarian Control Offices from May 26, 1866 to April 22, 1922, to mark small works of silver with a fineness of 800 thousandths (3rd fineness).
Foreign work, XIX century in the style of the XVII century.
Height: 11.2 cm Width: 9.6 cm. Gross weight: 205.6 grams.
The lid is detached from the body. A small crack on the body.
The Louvre's collections include similar pieces made in the 19th century, such as the herborized agate bowl mounted in vermeil (inv. TH 316 A) and the silver-enameled bowl from the former Rothschild collection, now on display at the Louvre Abu Dhabi (inv. R 151). Other precious mounted agate objects can be seen in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum made in the decade 1810/1820 (inv. Loan Gilbert 16: 1.2-2008 and 445-2008).
