Japan, late Edo period Composite armor, Nimai-dô tosei gusoku type, including : . the suji-bachi kabuto helmet with eight black lacquered plates, decorated with two niello, silver and copper dragons, on either side of a large carved wooden maedate featuring a dragon; the mabezashi visor adorned with silver, niello clouds; the shikoro neck guard with five straight brown lacquered iron blades, joined by blue sugake-odoshi lacing, the fukigaeshi adorned with a Mon ; . the okegawa-dô type breastplate, with five riveted blades, the top two assembled in blue sugake-odoshi; the front features a nielloed decoration of Fudô-Myôô surrounded by two deities, gilded and silvered, the back inscribed with votive characters ; . the six-sided juoe kusazuri ; . sode shoulder pads with five brown lacquered plates, assembled in blue sugake-odoshi ; . the kote sleeves, with the upper part in small diamond plates on a chain-mail base, the forearm sheathed in metal, both joined by iron mesh, lined with gold brocade ; . haidate with small ribbed plates ; . shino-suneate leggings. (Damage to sleeve brocades, oxidation of metal; wear and small chips).
