Japan, Edo period Suji-bachi kabuto type helmet with fifty-two iron plates, centered on a four-tiered floral tehen-kanamono alternating gilded copper and shakudo, enhanced at the front by a copper maedate depicting a crescent moon; the shikoro with five black lacquered kittsu-kozane blades, laced in blue kebiki-odoshi, with fukigaeshi bearing a sentoku Mon. (Traces of oxidation, inner lining of helmet torn, slight deformation towards tehen-kanamono; gaps, accidents and restorations to shikoro). Bomb dimensions (excluding mabezashi and shikoro): 19 x 29 x 24 cm
