Japan, late Edo period Traditional Naginata, with red and black lacquered wooden handle, curved steel blade similar to the Chinese guan dao. Blade sheath missing. Total length: 190 cm - Blade length: 41.5 cm N.B. This weapon was used by Sohei (warrior monks), onna-bugeisha (female noblewomen) and samurai.
