Japan, late Edo period, subject in gold and brown lacquered wood, depicting Amida Buddha standing on a lotus on a hexagonal base with three carved levels, leaning against a mandorla decorated with stylized clouds, the right hand raised in vitarkamudra ("teaching gesture"), the left lowered along the body, probably in varadamudra ("gesture of giving"). Left hand missing, worn. Size: 64.5 cm
