Paris, Le Clerc, Nyon, 1767 - 1770. 4 vols. in-4. Full contemporary green morocco, gilt garland on covers, ornate ribbed spine, red morocco titles and tomes, gilt garland on edges, gilt edges. Edition illustrated with 140 figures drawn by Boucher, Eisen, Gravelot... engraved by Baquoy, Basan, Binet... protected by serpents. In all, a frontispiece, 3 dedication pages drawn and engraved by Choffard, 4 fleurons on the titles, 30 vignettes, 1 superb cul-de-lampe at the end of the last volume and 139 figures drawn by Boucher, Eisen, Gravelot, Leprince, Monnet, Moreau... engraved by Baquoy, Basan, Binet, Duclos, de Ghendt... "Superb work by publisher Basan and engraver Le Mire . It is one of the most gallantly illustrated of the entire century". Some foxing, mainly on the serpents. Some serpents are missing. A superb copy in contemporary morocco. Cohen 769.
