[ROYALISME]. Royalist subscription in honor of the engagement of the Comte de Paris and Princess Elisabeth d'Orléans-Bragance [sic for Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance] - Guestbook In French, handwritten on paper, full of drawings and banners France, various departments and institutions [1931] Exceptional document providing the names and addresses of all subscribers who contributed to the financing of the engagement of the Comte de Paris and Princess Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance. The first volume begins with the names of the directors of Action Française, starting of course with Charles Maurras in first place, followed by Léon Daudet (vol. I). The volumes are peppered with inset compositions or headbands featuring views of towns, monuments and coats of arms for several of the regions or departments represented. The couple were in exile outside France at the time. Princess Isabelle d'Orléans et Bragance (1911-2003), eldest daughter of Prince Pedro de Alcântara d'Orléans et Bragance (1875-1940) and Countess Elisabeth Dobrzensky de Dobrzenic (1875-1951), married Prince Henri d'Orléans, Comte de Paris (1908-1999), son of the Duke and Duchess of Guise, head of the French royal household from 1940 to 1999, in Palermo on April 8, 1931. From their marriage to 1950, the couple spent most of their time living abroad (Belgium, Brazil, Morocco, Spain and Portugal), where their eleven children were born, the Count of Paris being subject to the law of exile. In 1950, the law of exile was repealed, and the Count and Countess de Paris returned to France to live. Set of 5 volumes, 4 in homogeneous binding, signed "E Chevalier" (dimensions: 284 x 215 mm) and a 5th volume bound differently (Gard subscriptions) (dimensions: 280 x 215 mm), printed or handwritten leaves, cursive ink writing, sometimes typed names of subscribers. Binding of the first four volumes: signed "E. Chevalier", blue morocco, spine with 2 exposed nerves on which appear the date "1931" and the title page, brown leather mosaic with titles in gold lettering: "Mariage de Monseigneur le Dauphin", mosaic boards with fleur-de-lys frieze, number H for "Henri", crown and coat of arms of the bride and groom, inner garland, white parchment lining. Some volumes rubbed, with small leather chips or spotting in places. Binding of 5th volume: tan calf, 5-rib spine punctuated with fleur-de-lys and gilt lettering: "Livre d'or du Gard", gilt fillet framing the boards, fleur-de-lys, crown and laurel at the four corners, three fleur-de-lys in the center, white silk lining, inscription in gilt letters: "A leurs Altesses Royales Monseigneur le Comte de Paris et Madame la Comtesse de Paris. Les Royalistes du Gard". Subscribers preceded by 2 printed leaves: "Le présent des Royalistes du Gard". - Volume 1: Groupe L'Action française, Paris et proche banlieue. Volume preceded by a watercolored and illuminated frontispiece by Anne Marie Philippeau, dated 1931, depicting the engaged couple and a wedding scene, accompanied by prayer texts. With 26 other full-page compositions or watercolor or ink-traced headbands, including composition "Arcueil rue Besson circa 1840"; watercolor composition depicting "Fresnes ruins château de Tourvoy. 1930"; Vue de la Daurade (Toulouse). - Volume 2: L'Action française group from Nouvion-en-Thiérache to Morlaix. With 22 full-page compositions or watercolor or ink bandeaux, a few postcard reproductions, including Ruines du Pont-Vieux à Mazères (Ariège), Port de la Rochelle, composition for the "Groupe des signatures recueillies par Madame William Bazin à Paris et dans le département des Côtes du Nord" etc. - Volume 3: Groupe L'Action française du groupe d'Alès au Groupe de Toul. With 16 watercolor or ink headbands. - Volume 4: L'Action française group from Forbach and Sarreguemines to overseas departments and colonies, including Algeria, Senegal, Damascus and Martinique. Followed by subscribers in England and "Français et amis de la France à l'Etranger", Belgium and Switzerland. With 18 full-page compositions or watercolor or ink bandeaux, including a portrait of Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance signed Vareilles-Lambersart (Lomme-Lambersart, Nord). - Volume 5: Département du Gard. Royalist subscription in honor of the engagement of the Comte de Paris and Princess Elisabeth d'Orléans-Bragance [sic for Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance]. With 3 full-page compositions in ink and watercolor: La Tour Magne; Ville de Pont Saint-Esprit (signed P. Brugier-Rouvre); Coat of arms of towns including Nîmes, Alès, Le Vigan, Uzès.
