Hervé d'Escajeul was the son of Henri d'Escajeul, seigneur de la Ramée, lieutenant-colonel in the Luzerne regiment. He married his cousin Léonore de la Bretonnière d'Escajeul. The land of La Ramée was sold to Claude Pelot (Pellot) on March 16, 1675. Prior to this, in 1537, François I granted Antoine d'Estouteville, Count of Créances, a dispensation from the feudal duties and royalties relating to the land of la Ramée. A fortified farmhouse still remains at La Ramée.
