Japan, 19th century Pair of Satsuma earthenware baluster vases with arched bodies, decorated in relief with a procession of birds holding standards and spears, an owl supporting a palanquin. The upper part features four niches with rings. Stylized petals adorned with Buddhist lions, flowers and geometric motifs complete the ornamentation. H. 36.5 cm (Substantial damage and missing parts)
