LI HUIXIAN (1869-1924) et LIANG QICHAO (1873-1929) Two small color paintings on silk, featuring butterflies and flowers, signed Li Huixian, mounted on green-backed paper printed with calligraphy by Liang Qichao. Dim. 65 x 31.5 cm. Liang Qichao (1873-1929), a political figure of the late Qing dynasty and Minguo period, was one of the initiators of the Hundred Days Reform, then Minister of Justice during the Minguo period. His wife, Li Huixian (1869-1924), a painter, founded Shanghai's first school for girls in 1896.
