Cavalry officer saber model 1896. Bronze and horn mount. Round cap with remaining monogram. Wraparound guard with four branches on jointing arch decorated with a laurel wreath and head of Gorgon on the tail of plate. Horn spindle, missing the watermark. Straight blade with T-back and full-length throat. Back engraved in "Sabre d'officier de cavalerie 1896, 2 eme taille Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault 1906 JH". Iron scabbard with one strap and symmetrical stinger, oxidation. Total length 106cm. France, Third Republic period, First World War.
