Georges LACOMBE (Versailles 1868 - Alençon 1916) At 9 o'clock, the Music Master, cartoon Black pencil, red pencil, pen and black ink Bears lower left the stamp of the studio (Lugt n° 4390) Titled upper right 19,5 x 30 cm Georges Lacombe was nicknamed by his contemporaries the Nabi - sculptor. He was first a pupil of his mother, who was a draughtsman, and of his father, Jean-Baptiste Lacombe, a man of letters and woodcarver. He attended the workshop of Gervex for some time. In 1892, he became a student of Paul Sérusier, met Gauguin, and joined the Nabi movement. In 1900, following his meeting with Theo van Rysselberghe, he turned to neo-impressionism.
