Emile LEVY (Paris 1826 - 1890) The amorous fugue Panel, one board, not parqueted (Tachet, patented in Paris) Signed lower right EMILE LEVY 26,5 x 15,5 cm The pictorial layer of this painting is based on a Tachet panel, the design of which was patented on September 19, 1845 by Claude François Tachet, a manufacturer of precision instruments and mathematics. It took him fifteen years of reflection and testing before he was able to develop the so-called ouxhygrometric preparation of wood, which facilitates the production of panels but also increases the strength of the glue and thus the life of the support. This method consists of putting the wood sheets in an oven, heated for two or three hours at 40° and then varnished one by one with a special coating before being sprayed with a "shellac" glue and finally assembled by pressure until the glue melts between the sheets.
