Jean- Félix DUMORTIER (Tournai 1801 - Bruxelles 1868) - Lot 37
Jean- Félix DUMORTIER (Tournai 1801 - Bruxelles 1868) Let the little children come to me - The Ascension Pair of paintings 208 x 89 cm Provenance : Anonymous sale, Brussels, Galerie Moderne, n°219. Jean - Félix Dumortier is an artist from Tournai who is both a sculptor and a painter. In painting, he specializes in portraits and religious scenes. As such, he already realized large canvases for institutional establishments. He developed a rubenian style with a vaporous touch and a wide chromatic palette such as can be found in the church of Saint Quentin in Peruwelz, in Hainaut. Our paintings are no exception. They are pendants that were originally part of a series of four religious paintings.
