Jean - Félix Dumortier is an artist from Tournai who is both a sculptor and a painter. In painting, he specializes in portraits and religious scenes. As such, he already realized large canvases for institutional establishments. He developed a rubenian style with a vaporous touch and a wide chromatic palette such as can be found in the church of Saint Quentin in Peruwelz, in Hainaut. Our paintings are no exception. They are pendants that were originally part of a series of four religious paintings.
