Full contemporary calf, gilt medallion in the center of the boards, ornate ribbed spine, havana morocco title-piece, roulette on the edges. Color plates. First edition of this Dutch version of the Temple des Muses. It is decorated with 60 engravings out of text, a title-frontispiece and two vignettes engraved by the Dutch artist Bernard Picard (1673-1733), called the Roman, after those of H. van Diepenbecke. All the engravings as well as the lettering and endpapers were colored. Superb freshness of colors for these 61 engraved plates. Cracks to the upper spine, accidents to the headpieces, restorations to the corners. Modern handwriting on the first endpaper. Some foxing.
