[LE MONNIER, Abbé Guillaume-Antoine]. - Lot 188
Green half-maroquin with corners, double gilt fillet on the boards, spine decorated, gilt title. First edition, decorated with a frontispiece drawn and engraved on copper by Moreau le jeune. The Fête des Bonnes-Gens was instituted in Mézidon-Canon in February 1775 by Jean-Baptiste Élie de Beaumont (1732- 1786), jurisconsult and lawyer, intendant of Finances of the Count of Artois and then of Charles X. At each of them, a Good daughter, a Good mother, a Good old man and a Good head of family were elected, to whom an engraved silver token was given. Later on, several localities imitated the festivities of Canon, including Briquebec, with the celebration of its Rosière. Spine faded and spotted, binding rubbed. As is.
