CODINIUS, Georgio. - Lot 124
CODINIUS, Georgio. Georgii Codini (sive, ut vulgo, Curopalatae) de Officialibus palatii Constantinopolitani, & officiis magnae ecclesiae. Hieronymum Commelinum, 1596. 1 vol. in-8. Covered vellum, handwritten title on spine, cold fillet on boards. Followed by : Selecta de originibus Constantinopolitanis, interprete Georgio Dousa. 1596. - Freculphi episcopi Lexoviensis chronicorum libri duo. 1597. Greek and Latin edition given by George Dousa. George Codin or Codinus, curopalate or master of the palace at the court of the last emperors of Constantinople, who lived in the 15th century. He left two compilations in Greek which are interesting for the understanding of Byzantine history, on the offices of the palace of Constantinople and those of the patriarchal church of that city. This text was first published in 1588, and has had several editions. Notes on the flyleaf and manuscript bookplate on the title page. A good copy. Endpapers detached, seams fragile
