Antoine Jean DUCLOS (Paris 1742 - 1795) Portrait of a young boy Black stone Signed and dated at the bottom A. J. Duclos Delineavit 1768 On the back of the mounting an old sales label n° 108 Diameter : 6,6 cm Pupil of Augustin de Saint Aubin, from whom he was to engrave some drawings, Duclos worked mainly as an engraver and illustrator. He made notably vignettes for the works of Ovid, Racine, Voltaire and Rousseau. During the Revolution, he made several engravings of current events, for example on the execution of Louis XVI.
