[BERRI (Duchesse de)] Placard in support of the Duchess of Berri Cherish us, beautiful and good Princess / For you will see that here we venerate / Virtues, Attractions, Gentleness, Wisdom / It is enough to say that we adore you. Placard on paper, engraved text and frame, coat of arms of France in the frame, in the corners four large gilded flowers of lilies counterpasted. Excellent condition. Traces of stamp on the back, partly erased. Dimensions : 540 x 425 mm. France, s.d. [ca. 1816] The text is also printed in L'union des lis. Chansonnier de la cour, de la ville et des départemens à l'occasion du mariage de son altesse royale, Monseigneur le Duc de Berri avec la princesse Caroline de Naples, le 17 juin 1816, Paris, s.d. [1816], p. 105. This is an extract of the song sung on June 17, the day of the wedding, at the great post of the Tuileries, on the occasion of the inauguration of the portrait of H.R.H. the Duchess of Berri.
