[ALSATICA]. [BAS-RHIN]. [ANDLAU]. Letter from the Lords of Andlau to the magistrate of Strasbourg concerning a woman potentially infected with leprosy. In German, handwritten letter Andlau, February 9, 1615 Letter on paper, dry stamp, cursive handwriting, 2 pages, bi-fold with address on the back of the 2nd leaf. Dimensions : 202 x 294 mm. Rare example of public health concern in the 17th century. The wife of Melchior Yhedinger, baker, is suspected by the lords of Andlau of having contracted leprosy : they ask the medical council of Strasbourg to determine if she is healthy or contaminated.
