ARMORIAL OF THE CITY OF PARIS] BEAUMONT. Full contemporary calf, gilt roulette framing the boards with gilt fleur-de-lys and naves in the corners, spine ribbed and decorated with the irons of the city of Paris, morocco title-pieces, gilt edges. Engraved title-page, 117 plates numbered from 1 to 117, of which the first four are double plates with coats of arms coloured with gold and silver highlights Copy enriched with 45 additional plates: - one double plate (after plate 4: Governors, captains and lieutenants general) with three coats of arms, one of which is pasted on, - 17 additional plates (after plate 83: the king's procurators), eight of which have coats of arms pasted on blank escutcheons and enhanced in red, the other plates are blank (without added coats of arms). - of 2 plates added (after plate 85: The clerks) of which one is blank. - of 2 plates added (after plate 86: Receivers) of which one is blank. - of 12 plates added (after plate 105: Councillors) of which ten are blank. Ink stain on the first added plate. - of 11 added plates (after plate 117: Quartiniers) of which 10 are blank. Handwritten mention in pencil on the back of the last endpaper: "This work was completed until 1789. There are 45 plates which are not usually found in it". A very scarce copy enhanced in colour and enriched. Some leaves uniformly but slightly foxed. Lacks the upper cover, beginning of a split at the top of the upper spine, corners dull, small spalls and stains on the boards.
