[PLUCHE]. History of the sky, or one seeks the origin of idolatry, and the misunderstandings of the philosophy, on the formation, & on the influences of the celestial bodies. Second edition. Paris, Veuve Estienne, 1740. 2 vols in-12. Full contemporary calf, gilt arms in the centre of the boards, spine with ornamented nerves, red morocco title and tomes. Complete with the frontispiece drawn and engraved by Lebas, and 24 plates out of the text. Work dealing essentially with Egyptian cosmogony as well as with various ancient cosmogonies (zodiac, symbolic gemonias, theogony, alchemy) The text ends with an "Éclaircissement sur les Plantes d'Égypte". Handwritten bookplate: Cte Alphonse de la Guère. Small tear in the title. Copy of François-Emmanuel-Joseph de Bavière, marquis de Villacerf, known as the chevalier, then the Comte de Bavière.
