Contemporary marbled havana calf, gilt arms in the centre of the boards, triple fillet, smooth spine decorated with faux-nerfs, red morocco title-piece, brown calf tomaison-piece.

The work is illustrated with a portrait-frontispiece drawn and etched by Garand.
>Copy with the arms of Marie-Christine-Chrétienne de Saint-Simon de Rouvroy, countess of Rasse (1728-1774). Only daughter of the duke of Saint-Simon, she married Charles-Maurice Grimaldi, count of Valentinois in 1749, became great of Spain in 1754 following the death of the duke of Ruffec, her uncle, and was lady-in-waiting of the countess of Provence in 1771.
