PINDARE - BENEDICTUS, Johannes.
Pindari olympia, pythia, nemean isthmia. Salmurii, Ex typis Petri Piededii, 1620. 1 vol. in-4. Full contemporary fawn calf, boards decorated with a sunburst and sheaves of wheat, arms gilt in the centre of the boards, large lace surround, spine with grotesque nerves, edges gilt. Bound with the arms of Philippe Le Bègue, lord of Bouchetin, King's lawyer and adviser to the Presidential seat of Bourges (Berry).
Long note relating to the gift of this book to a student "Jean Robinet" of the Jesuit College of Sainte-Marie de Bourges, dated August 22, 1657.
Another note: "Carolus Simon soc. iesu. studiorum praefectus". Charles Simon, prefect of the College of Sainte-Marie de Bourges - Ex-libris Count Alphonse de la Guère.
Handwritten note on a flying band: "Le Bègue, Sr de Villemenard. Prize of the College Sainte Marie de Bourges offered by Mrs. Le Bègue, the son probably of Mr. Le Bègue, lord of Vilanies, of which several books are to Dames".
Angular moulding, more or less pronounced.
