Full contemporary fawn calf, gilt floral medallion in the centre of the boards, gilt fillet in the border, spine ribbed, gilt fleurons in the boxes. 860pp, [22]ff. Edition given by the learned Italian philologist and prelate Niccolo Perotti (1430-1480) whose works contributed to the renaissance of letters. A fine impression in italic type by Nikolaus II Episcopius (1531-1565), successor of his father Nikolaus I, printer in Basel from 1553 until his death. Handwritten bookplate on the title page: Lebègue. Smudges on the last leaves of the index. Corners, cuts, upper and lower spine missing.
