Critical edition of the Psalms of David, which earned Robert Estienne the wrath of the Sorbonne. As for the notes, they could only betray his sympathies for the Reformation.
The edition was obviously condemned, along with the Bible of 1545, also translated by Judah, and Robert Estienne was called Calvinianus, Hæreticus primæ classis (Renouard, 63).
Four years later, weary of his constant struggle with the Sorbonne, Robert Estienne emigrated to Geneva.
> Manuscript bookplate on title page: "Lebègue".
Renouard, Estienne, 66, no. 4.
Mark with bouquet in the centre of the boards.
Two small holes with damage to a few letters on fol. 171.
Lacking the headpieces reaching the caissons, corners dull. Staining and discoloration on the boards.
