In French, manuscript on paper with coats of arms drawn in pen
France, 18th century 38 ff. preceded and followed by 3 ff. of paper, drawings of coats of arms in pen, two of them with coloured highlights (fol. 7 and 27v).
Bound in tan calf, spine with five raised bands, edges speckled with red (Some spotting, incomplete at the end or unfinished manuscript (the coat of arms for "Ganesmor the Black" is not figured (fol. 38v); text trimmed short in places; wetness on the first few leaves not hindering the reading) Size: 115 x 150 mm
An attempt at a pictorial copy of part of the following work: La devise des armes des chevaliers de la Table ronde qui estoient du tresnommé et vertueux Artus roy de la grant Bretaigne avec la description de leurs armoiries (Paris, F. Regnault, 1525, 98 ff.). The first coat of arms which opens this manuscript is that of Arthur (Azure with thirteen crowns of gold, 4, 4, 4 and 1) but the preceding pages of the printed edition of 1525 (title and first coats of arms) are not copied in our manuscript.
