Plan taken from an original of 1708 at the request of Jean-Baptiste Tixier, owner living in Cronat-sur-Loire.
In the year 1075, William I, Count of Nevers entrusted the Benedictine monks with the construction of a monastery having the function of a "priory" and called Saint Pierre d'Antioche, the name of the present parish church. Located in Montambert, a Cluniac site, the building was given to the Benedictine priory of La Charité-sur-Loire, which was one of the "five eldest daughters" of Cluny. Destroyed in 1530, the reconstruction was started in 1633 by the prior Dom Gaspard de Ramilly.
The date of 1661 that can be read on the top of the portal marks the completion of the work.
