Document close to the reconstruction of the castle by Mansart.
The castle of La Ferté was rebuilt by François Mansart around 1656-1659 at the request of Jacques de la Fond, secretary to the king, controller and receiver of consignments in Touraine, keeper of the roles of the officers of France, and then State Counsellor. Jacques de La Fond (1620-1679), the purchaser of La Ferté, belonged to a great family of dress and finance which bore: Or, a chevron Sable between in base a tree Vert, issuant from the point of the shield.
APPENDIX: A large set of pre-classified documents relating to the de La Fond family and its lands in Berry, as well as its holdings and commitments in La Rochelle, Meaux and elsewhere. Numerous documents relating to the trial of the Seigneur de La Fond with President Lamoignon (note the burlap bag of proceedings).
