Etienne BEÖTHY (1934-2002) Abstract composition, 1945 Oil on canvas Monogrammed "EB" and dated 45 bottom left Studio stamp on the back 128 x 89 cm A certificate from Madame Ayin Béothy will be given to the purchaser After the First World War, Etienne Béothy enrolled at the Budapest Higher School of Architecture, and then moved on to the study of sculpture by entering the School of Fine Arts. He befriends Mohaly-Nagy and the avant-garde group MA. In 1920, he travels in Europe and settles in Paris in 1925. He exhibits at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. In 1928, he exhibits at the Galerie Zak and in Zurich. He takes part in the Cercle et Carré movement founded in Vanves in 1929. 1931 his works are at the Galerie de l'Effort Moderne of Léonce Rosenberg and this until 1939. After the war, he is founder of the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles. Michel Seuphor dedicates a book to him. 1947, he exhibits at the Galerie Denise René, but also in Europe. With Le Corbusier, he writes the first issue of "Formes et Vie". In 1954, he is in Brussels His works are represented in the greatest museums in the world. Abstraction finds all its strength, its originality, its dynamism in space.
