Stains and freckles. 2 color-enhanced engraved portraits dated 1608, [2]ff dedications with sonnets, 53 pl, 18pp. 53 steel-engraved flower plates numbered from 1 to 53, and most of them color-enhanced. The title page is missing. The dedication sheet is dated 1624. 18 numbered pages including a warning to those who will want to paint or illuminate, or embroider & make tapestry on this book, followed by the catalogue of the colours of each plate. Bound in suite :5 plates in-4 heightened in colors, of Picquet engraved by Messenger. According to Brunet and Nissen, the book would be complete with 75 plates. The catalogue of colours following the work only mentions these 53 plates. The 1623 edition contains 90 plates. There is never any mention of the following 18 pp. Heavy wetting on some plates.
