MORUS, THOMAS. IDEA OF A HAPPY REPUBLIC OR THE UTOPIA OF THOMAS MORUS, CHANCELLOR OF ENGLAND, CONTAINING... TRANSLATED INTO FRENCH BY MR. GUEUDEUVILLE. Amsterdam, François l'Honoré, 1730. 1 vol. petit in-8. Full XIXth century olive calf, ornate spine. Heavy rubbing with the bit. A portrait engraved by Desrochers, an engraved title, an escutcheon and 16 plates engraved out of text, one of which bears the signature of F. Bleyswick. The engraving "l'étalage viril" is often missing. These figures had appeared in the Leide edition, by P. Van der Aa, in 1715. Second edition of Gueudeville's translation of this famous utopia.
