ESCHYLE - SOPHOCLE - EURIPIDE. Tragoediae selectae Aeschyli Sophoclis Evripidis. Henri Estienne, Huldrich Fugger, 1567. 1 vol. in-12. Contemporary brown calf, spine gilt, gilt title, two labels pasted in the boxes. Printer's mark on the title page. Sophocles' Antigone and Aeschylus' Prometheus in Chains are in a bilingual edition: Greek and Latin. The four plays of Euripides represent the only tragedies of Euripides printed by Henri Estienne. Each play (except Prometheus) is accompanied by two Latin versions, one in verse and one in prose; for Prometheus, only the prose version (by M. Garbitius) is given. The translations are by Erasmus, Melanchthon, G. Buchanan, Joachim Camerarius and G. Rotallerus. Joints cracked, missing headpieces. Restoration to the outer margin of the first two leaves including the title page. ATTACHED: D'ANSSE DE VILLOISON, Johanne Baptista Caspare.
