Full black morocco, gilt cross with cold filets in the center of the boards, large gilt and cold frame, large gilt fleuron on the spine, gilt title and tomaison, gilt edges. In volume I : chromolithograph frontispiece and five horstexte engravings on steel, with printed serpents. The notice "To the faithful people" is bound by mistake between pages XVI and XVII of the preliminary notice. In volume II : 7 hors-texte steel engravings, 10 hors-texte woodcuts (views of Palestine and the holy places), and two colored hors-texte maps (map of Palestine and map of Jerusalem). Printed serpents. Text framed with a woodcut border. 4 special woodcut frontispieces for each of the Gospels, included in the pagination. First printing.
