CHINE Square-shaped grey-green jade cachet surmounted by a majestic seated dragon with whiskers extended and tail raised. On the reverse the inscription "MING CHANG YU LAN (明昌御览))". Size: 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm (slight chips) MING CHANG YU LAN (明昌御览) is often regarded as the imperial inscription of Jinzhangzong 金章宗 during the Jin Dynasty (1115 -1234). It imitated the calligraphy and seals of The Huizong Emperor of the Song (1082 - 1135). Many of the paintings and calligraphies he collected were often stamped 'MING CHANG YU LAN '明昌御览'. Note, that later generations of the Ming and Qing dynasties imitated the inscription MING CHANG YU LAN (明昌御览) ) to stamp calligraphy and paintings. Reference: A stamp with the similar dragon shape in gray jade is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum (Met), New York. It is identified as Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368).
